Ron Burns is the VP of Sales of GNI where he applies his thirty years’ experience in the telecommunications industry in technical, sales and sales management roles.
As a radioman in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam era, Mr. Burns learned advanced voice and data transmission applications and techniques. This experience was enhanced during subsequent technical positions working for Western Union Telegraph Co. and RCA Americom, where he held positions of Sales Engineer. It was here that his sales experience began as he quickly learned to integrate his technical experience into the sales process.
Prior sales experience includes Wiltel, WorldCom and Velocita. While at WorldCom, Mr. Burns was responsible for increasing his base revenue from $50,000/Month to $2.5Million/Month.
As a District Sales Manager for Sprint Communications, Mr. Burns’ sales team was responsible for generating the highest ‘per person’ revenue in the entire Sprint organization. During his role as Western Area VP of Sales for Metromedia, Mr. Burns was instrumental in closing the largest single sale in company history valued at $93 Million per year.
Mr. Burns has developed a successful practice of understanding the sales process and promoting ‘value’ over price while remaining mindful of corporate profits and margins as the key to running a successful sales organization.
